Product Description The #1 New York Times-bestselling author presents a riveting novel where a canine search and rescue volunteer fights danger and finds love in the Pacific Northwest wilderness.
To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life-a quaint house on an island off Seattle's coast, a thriving dog-training school, and a challenging volunteer job performing canine search and rescues. Not to mention her three intensely loyal Labs. But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare...
Several years ago, Fiona was the only survivor of the Red Scarf serial killer, who shot and killed Fiona's cop fiancé and his K-9 partner.
On Orcas Island, Fiona found the peace and solitude she needed to rebuild her life. But all that changes on the day Simon Doyle barrels up her drive, desperate for her help. He's the reluctant owner of an out-of-control puppy, foisted upon him by his mother. Jaws has eaten through Simon's house, and he's at his wit's end.
To Fiona, Jaws is nothing she can't handle. Simon, however, is another matter. A newcomer to Orcas, he's a rugged and in-tensely private artist, known for the exquisite furniture he creates from wood. Simon never wanted a puppy-and he most definitely doesn't want a woman. Besides, the lanky redhead is not his type. But tell that to his hormones.
As Fiona embarks on training Jaws, and Simon begins to appreciate both dog and trainer, the past tears back into Fiona's life. A copycat killer has emerged out of the shadows, a man whose bloodlust has been channeled by a master with one motive: to reclaim the woman who slipped out of his hands...

A PAGE TURNER! September 2, 2010 JULSIE (Woodbine, MD) The Search is a strong romantic suspense. It was a good serial murder read but had a lot of places to laugh also. Fiona Bristow is strong, smart and determined, but she's also warm, lovable, and likeable. Years ago, Fiona Bristow had the perfect life, a great fiance, an upcoming wedding, a loving family. Then the Red Scarf Killer entered her world. She was his only survivor. Her fiance and his police K-9 partner were dead. To help recover from the terrifying ordeal, Fiona moves to Orcas Island and starts a canine obedience and search and rescue training school. Since then, she's managed to find peace and be content with her life, until.....

I really liked this one August 31, 2010 L Martin (Mesa, AZ USA) As a die-hard J.D. Robb fan and only occasional mainstream Roberts reader, I was absolutely delighted with The Search. Of course, being a dog lover might have had a minor positive influence. This book is the best stand alone Nora Roberts tale that I've read for some time. Now if Indulgence in Death would just hurry up and get here!
What a waste of my time August 29, 2010 jasper (Phila, Pa, USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I wish that I didn't always feel compelled to finish even the poorest of books.
This book is titled "The Search" and yet despite the reviews, less than 10% of the book has anything to do with search & rescue, and those parts are very incorrect.
Little to no research seems to have been done on the topic of either search & rescue or the main character's career of dog training.
Basically, anything related to either topic is portrayed either very wrong, archaic and wrong or just plain ridiculous.
Mostly, this is a poorly written teenage romance novel where the woman gushes over being overtaken by a strong male. Jeez, aren't most folks past that stereotype?

I love almost all of Nora Roberts books. Her sizzling sex scenes are not to my taste, but I simply skip over. This one had few, a great plot, and wonderful insight and explantions of the dog training/search and rescue business
A Great Read! August 29, 2010 BeeBee (NY) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I loved this book. It was just so easy and fun to read, I
hated putting it down. I didn't find the parts about the dog training boring at all. I love dogs, so I found the info about the dogs something extra to like about the book.
