a little to pointed September 2, 2010 Olin Hill I think she is good writer but I felt her plot was stereotypical -- you could basically leave rome and make it modern and the story could be close to the same. I suspect some of the issues like abortion were not talked about in a modern since like women right to choose, gay rights etc. I found her like Anye Rand -- a good writer but over simplifies the other side almost to the point of pure propaganda
Amazing! August 28, 2010 Rachel An amazing book! An amazing story! Amazing writing! I was warned when I picked it up, and I will warn you. This series is very in depth (in a good way) and basically she sets it up in the first 70 pages. However, at page 70 you will be officially addicted and unable to put it down.
Mark of the Lion Series August 28, 2010 Bella This was one of the best series of books that I've ever read. Francine Rivers makes history come alive in her books. Her portrayal of history is very accurate. Francine Rivers has a talent to depict characters that face struggles in their walk with God that help encourage my faith and walk.
A Voice in the Wind August 6, 2010 STB This book provides an excellent fictional story within a historic setting. Bought these book for a Christian book club and have enjoyed reading it. Some women were turned off by all the violence - but that was the way it was. I enjoyed reading it again
Life-changing August 2, 2010 Megan Heavens (Saugus, CA United States) As with most Rivers books, this one if life-changing. This series is what the Lord used to bring me back to Him after 3 years of trying things my own way--what a gentle Lord He is. I highly recommend this series. The characters are believable, you feel for them, you get an amazing view of historically-accrate content, and you get a better sense of how God works in life (even though it is fiction). It will challenge your walk with the Lord, in a good way.
