Product Description Is even an Omnibus big enough to contain Millar and Hitch's widescreen super-hero epic?! They are the greatest heroes the world has ever known: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, the Wasp, Giant Man, Hawkeye, the Black Widow, Quicksilver, and the Scarlet Witch! Brought together by Nick Fury, head of the elite espionage agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., the Ultimates are Earth's last line of defense against a rising storm of strange new threats to humanity - menaces such as the rampaging monster known as the Hulk, and an army of shape-shifting aliens bent on destroying the world and killing all humankind. But just as they begin to get comfortable in their roles as international celebrities and America's champions, things get hard! Can the Ultimates survive the Hulk's execution, Thor's imprisonment - and the advent of the Ultimate Defenders?! The world's greatest heroes are in for the battle of the century - and not all of them will be walking away! Collects Ultimates #1-13, Ultimates 2 #1-13, Ultimates Annual #1, and Ultimates 2 #1 Variant Sketch Edition.

Brilliant, Mature Avengers Story July 10, 2010 RJ Rutherford (LA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Mark Millar shoots to the top of my favorite Marvel scribes list with this book. It's the biggest comic book I own, and I'm proud to show this giant omnibus hardcover off. Great artwork, better writing. A bevy of extra content to look through. A must own for any Marvel fan, Avenger fan, or fan of great comic arcs period.
It doesn't get any better than this,... May 15, 2010 Deme B. I have yet to find a story line that is better than Ultimates 1 & 2. The art is spot on and wonderful.
The price is prefect as well, since my local comic shops charge the full cover price.
title for review. or... April 9, 2010 Daniel Sweet (Chicago) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
alright, I'd already owned every issue of this series in the monthly format, but when I saw how attractive the oversized pages were I knew that the re-readability factor was kicked up to TEN within the pages of this omnibus, so I caved and bought it...my only gripe is the lack of the second Annual issue and the inclusion of the 'director's cut' of the first issue of the second volume, but whatever.
unnecessary March 12, 2010 Alexander P. (Boston, MA---USA) 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
If you collected the single issues, the trade paperbacks, or the two hardcovers, then this is an unnecessary collection.
don't get me wrong, I still bought it. "The Ultimates" is every bit as good as everyone says, and then some. Everything is mint perfect as is, however... This collection is unnecessarily overwhelming. If you get a chance, I'd recommend picking up the two hardcovers that were originally put out collection "Ultimates (1)" and "Ultimates 2."
Overwise, yeah. Its a great read and its a must-have for collectors of "Marvel Omnibus."
Question: Why was the Variant cover for "Ultimate Iron Man" included, when the issue isn't part of this collection?
The best complilation of 2009 March 8, 2010 Dave X (Caracas, Venezuela) This omnibus has the first two arcs of the Ultimates Avengers, written by Mark Milla and the art od Bryan Hitch, the ultimates is the new version of the avengers,It is especially for the new readers, but the old readers will love it, Mark Millar brings the avenger to the 21st century. I think this book is PG-13 because has some necesary extreme violence. The art of Bryan Hitch is exellent, this book it is the perfect ecuation (millar+hitch) that equals the perfect graphic novel.
