Product Description The #1 New York Times bestselling Sookie Stackhouse series- the basis for HBO(r)'s True Blood-continues!
After enduring torture and the loss of loved ones during the brief but deadly Faery War, Sookie Stackhouse is hurt and she's angry. Just about the only bright spot in her life is the love she thinks she feels for vampire Eric Northman. But he's under scrutiny by the new Vampire King because of their relationship. And as the political implications of the Shifters coming out are beginning to be felt, Sookie's connection to the Shreveport pack draws her into the debate. Worst of all, though the door to Faery has been closed, there are still some Fae on the human side-and one of them is angry at Sookie. Very, very angry...

Does the author have amnesia? July 30, 2010 yoanka (Miami, FL USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
**Contains Spoilers**
Like many people, I had very high expectations for this book. Unfortunately, none of my expectations were met. Not only was this book a hodge-podge of storylines thrown together with no connectivity, but the author seems to have forgotten the stories that came before. In book 2 we met Godric/Godfrey...ERIC'S MAKER! So how is it that we are now introduced to some random ancient roman who is Eric's maker?? This was so jarring for me that I had trouble getting through the story (what little there was of it).
Not Ms. Harris' greatest effort (quite possibly her worst). This series has begun to deteriorate a'la the Anita Blake series.
Write a real book July 29, 2010 Coco (California) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm a fan and love this series, but for "Dead in the Family" it looks like Harris threw together bits and pieces of unused text in order to cash in without doing the actual work of writing. Nothing happened, and the plot was pointless, dull, redundant, and without direction. Bleh!
IT IS THE BEST YET! July 29, 2010 Lester (Maryland) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
When Dead in the Family first came out, I thought the reviews did not sound very good. I recall reading that it was crammed with too much and went into too many directions. THAT'S WHAT I LOVED ABOUT IT. I can't say one bad thing about this book. Kept me a nervous wreck the whole time, well written, am in love with Eric and Sookie together. The history was very interesting. I just think the entire book was excellent and hope her future books are as captivating. Great job!
It's a good read. July 28, 2010 V. Cole (Culver, IN USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Seriously, I do not understand why people feel so "cheated" by the book. It was standard Sookie Stackhouse. Quick, easy to read, fun. The only parts I could have lived without were the graphic sex scenes between Sookie and Eric. It's treading on Jean Auel territory, ala the later books, between Aila and Jondalar. But I skimmed them and went on. I prefer the book Sookie to the TV Sookie. She's a much more interesting person in print in my humble opinion. If you're a fan, you'll probably enjoy the book.:)
Ho-hum July 28, 2010 Samantha 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have to agree with many of the reviews written here. I waited, not very patiently, for this latest installment and was left feeling very disappointed. After Bill declared his love for Sookie in the last book, and with Eric doing the same, I expected a lot of tension around that story line. Sadly Bill barely made an appearance, and Sookie spent a lot of the book not with Eric either. The ending felt very rushed and unsatisfactory with characters cleaning themselves up and just hopping into bed for a good nights sleep. Although I love this series I hope that Charlaine delivers on the next one. I felt this was a little lazy and it felt like a promise unfulfilled.
